Review #158: For His Eyes Only by Liz Fielding

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Unless it is mad, passionate, extraordinary love, it's a waste of time. There are too many mediocre things in life- love should not be one of them"

Liz Fielding, a best-selling English author, have spun a passionate and enchanting love story, in her latest book, For His Eyes Only . The story is about a sculptor living in a castle like estate and an ambitious real-estate agent.

To be fair: I'm not that judgmental when it comes to reading Mills & Boons or Harlequin books. I believe we all need to read a little bit of fairytale romance sometime to lose oneself in the beauty of it.

Synopsis:

"It's your body that I want to draw, not your clothes."

Well, that's what she was afraid of! Hardworking estate agent Natasha Gordon finds her reputation in tatters when an ad she created gets bungled. She'll do anything to restore her good name—even beg seriously sexy artist Darius Hadley to give her another chance to sell his ancestral home. Only, he drives a hard bargain: Natasha must pose naked, for his eyes only…!

He's asking Natasha to take him on trust. But she's learned the hard way not to trust men—particularly those she's working with…and let alone men she's taking her clothes off for!

Darius's next outrageous statement? "I will, too—if it will make it easier for you."

Natasha, a young and determined real-estate agent for a high-profile agency which is responsible for the sale of the famous sculptor, Darius Hadley's castle like estate. But a wrong advertisement about the property lands Natasha in trouble first by losing her precious job and her precious car, BMW, not to mention Darius Hadley is absolutely cross with her careless behavior. Ambitious Natasha shows up on Darius' doorstep as an indie agent to help him sell off his property, instead they are attracted to each other from the very first moment. Is is just a passing attraction or will it take both deep into the ocean of love and commitment?

No it's not corny or cheesy in any possible way, but it was bit dramatic, considering the way their lust turned into something deeper all too suddenly. The author's story-telling is free-flowing and the story instantly grips me with Darius and Natasha's burning and inevitable attraction. And Darius' sexiness is something so hard to miss in the whole story. Their passion keeps us moving forward with a hope that their passion will turn into something promising. There's a bit of mystery attached with Darius' property, but it was not unraveled like it happens in a crime novel.

The characters are as usual exceptionally surreal and something like which can exist only in our fantasies. But they are crafted with enough depth in their demeanor thus keeping us on our edges with their flaws and issues. The story moves at a fast pace and climaxes pretty dramatically something like sweeping-off-your-feet style! The narrative is captivating and striking with a bit of light-hearted comments. Natasha is a strong character and I liked her charged up energy all through out the book, not falling apart even after losing her dream job. The emotions mentioned in the book are intricately described thus making us feel strongly Darius and Natasha's emotional pull towards each other despite their promises to not to fall emotionally.

Verdict: This is the perfect book to cheer you up if your feeling blue!
