Review #76: A Princess by Christmas by Jennifer Faye
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Tell me which girl doesn't dream about a fairytale ending in her life- that impossibly handsome prince sweeping you off on your feet! Even after growing up, you still cherish that dream, but keep it aside because we become so wise. Well I also did kept the thought aside and moved on, but I never stopped myself from reading one and losing into it.
Well, to be honest, I know many people do not like this kind of cheesy love-stories, but since I read Jennifer Faye's previous book, titled, The Return of the Rebel, I turned into a complete fan of her, and started rooting for reading more of her books. Maybe because I love way too cheesy and emotional love-stories, which takes me into an unreal world filled with promises and trust and LOVE-unlimited! Who doesn't need a break and for me- a good romantic book is a total getaway! No matter whomever the publisher is! I have never learnt to judge a book by its publisher or author!
Sorry for drifting away! Jennifer Faye is a lovely author and has the ability and talent to create a surreal world which she makes it so believable with her use of simple words and vividness. I really respect her and her books and her beautiful and compelling romantic stories, which are really a retreat for me after a long day. A Princess by Christmas is a charming and mushy love-story about a prince and an ordinary, simple yet beautiful young girl. Yeah sounds like fairytale! I know, but this is strictly for grown-up girls and ladies who loves to fancy themselves on the shoes of that simple yet beautiful girl and wants to be swept away by a dreamy and a charming prince of an exotic land.
Synopsis:
No play and only hard work seems to be the mantra of the no-nonsense young business woman named Resse, who happens to be the owner of a small inn left in a debt by her father. Alex happened to fatefully stand on the doorstep of her very inn when Alex had to come up to New York to save his kingdom from false rumors of his brother's deeds. What happens next is really quite easy to guess! Sparks fly instantly and both try to hide their feelings till the very end and feelings and emotions become an endangered species for them, when Resse is thrown into the hot tub of jealously and trust.
Anybody who enjoys a little bit of corny and mushy-mushy romance stories would love to cherish this book. And yes this is not that type of book which will you grease your brain cells instead it will be bound to bring a smile at the corner of your mouth. As per the pace and flow of narration, the author has done a great job to make it more interesting and quite fascinating. I also loved how the author kept her characters quite realistic and thoughtful for her readers, thus giving an edge to the plot. The chemistry between them is not something bed-burning or passion-firing kind, but it was sweet with a passion and quite blissful. Both the protagonists had some sort of trust issues, Resse especially, Alex was more focused on saving his kingdom from bad mouth. And the whole air of exoticness around Prince Alexandro was quite well developed by the author. All-in-all, a pretty much enjoyable book with a engrossing storyline that any girl would love.
Verdict: So don't miss to be swept away by the enchant-ness of this beautiful love-story!
