Feature & Follow #11: My Ways to get over a Blogging/Reading Slump

Good morning folks,

It's time to have a new feature and follow blog post, which is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View.

What is Feature and Follow Friday?

In simple words- to gain more followers either via GFC or Bloglovin'. So the very idea of having this feature and follow meme is to collect more new bloggers on the block and to make new blogger friends as well as followers. It is a great idea which was started out by Alison and  Rachel. Three Cheers for those two masterminds!

So How does it Works?
  • Follow the Featured Bloggers on their blogs
  • Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  • Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  • If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  • Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  • If someone comments and says they are following you, please return the courtesy by following them back. Spread the Love...and the followers

 This Week's Question:
How do you cure a book hangover/blogging slump/reading slump? - Suggested by Take Me Away

Well, to be honest, these things happen quite rarely in my life. But when such rare moments occur to my life, I do a lot of things to help me move forward and stay inspired, like
  • Reading reviews of my favorite book

My favorite book is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and reading the reviews on Goodreads about this particular books keeps me inspired to read the book once again. Thus so The Great Gatsby, I move on to next favorite book and gradually I overcome my reading slump.

  • Hosting giveaways and memes and making new blogger friends

Giveaways are the basic step in getting more followers for your blog, hence, if I don't have anything good to write about on my blog, then I host these release day blitzes or some regular giveaways to keep myself busy. Memes as you know, it somehow becomes very addictive and every week, on Friday or whatever day you/re doing the giveaway, it'll be the first thing you'll remember when you wake up in the morning.

  • Instagram too helps in many ways

Pictures can evoke emotions and memories related to it, but it doesn't necessarily have to be  related. So if you look at the picture of your favorite book on some blogger's instagram profile, it'll surely make you wanna read the book.

So these are the some ways through which I can easily get over my reading/blogging slump. Do share with your ways about how you get over it, in the comments below. Thank You.

  8. You know, I've never read The Great Gatsby. Everyone seems to love it and I'm surprised I didn't ever get around to reading it. I probably should do sometime.

  11. Great ideas and great advice. I do the same thing with releases blitzs when I don't have a review or meme to post....not only does it showcase a new release to others but I learn an awful lot more about said book and the author myself making it double the fun!

  16. Great advice! I do agree, when I'm scanning reviews on goodreads, it always puts me in the mood to break my pockets, and make a couple of purchases! Instagram is the same way for me, although I never thought to use that as a way to get out of a slump. Thank goodness it's rare for me to be in reading slumps as well :) I'm following back via bloglovin :)
